Stuttering & Advice For Teachers

Stuttering & Advice for Teachers. As we start another school year and the excitement fills the hallways, children who stutter feel different emotions such as anxiety, fear and tension. My advice for children who stutter is to speak with your teacher in private and discuss that you have a speech impediment. Teachers, it may be a good idea when you are asking questions of your students to first ask if they would like to participate (if they stutter). Furthermore, reading in pairs or in a group would be much better than individual reading because for me, it was very traumatic to just think about reading out loud. Teachers have the toughest job in the world and I have the highest respect for them. When it comes to children who stutter, take time to meet with that child so that the school year can proceed without difficulties.
