It's National Stuttering Awareness Week and it's important to raise awareness to the world that PWS have a voice that matters and to come out to talk about their journey. This week is to highlight the need for education and discuss the fact that 1% of the world's population stutter. We are here to take up space, we are here for our voices to be heard, and we are here to erase social stigma. I talk about it all the time on my podcast and YouTube channel that people who stutter are courageous, resilient, creative, and resourceful. Let's support one another and not be afraid of the judgment of others. It took me 35 years to embrace my stutter and once I did, a whole new world opened up. Thirty-five years of shame and guilt left my body and confidence grew with every step I took out of my comfort zone.
Let's spend this week educating our neighbors, our friends, and our family so we can live a life of positivity. No more hiding, no more shame, and definitely no more guilt. I am here to take up space and my voice does matter.
